Why Equity1821?
In 1821, David Mallory established the first Black-owned business in Indianapolis. Despite the challenges Black businesses face, theyhave been in the city enhancing the larger community for 200 years.
CDFI
A trusted and credible leader.
Equity1821 is a certified CDFI with the U.S. Department of Treasury – a network of community-based financial institutions that have a common goal of filling financing gaps in underserved areas. This translates into real change for the communities and people who need it most.
